I received this picture in an email from net-a porter a while ago. I love the dresses in this picture. They look so elegant. I love the fashion and silhouettes from the 1950s and 1960s. I adore the full skirts- the circle and poodle skirts! And the dresses were fabulous as well.
The styles of the fifties and sixties can definitely be seen in clothing today as you can see in this picture from The Stepford Wives.
Of course there’s also Hairspray, which is set in the early 1960s. Although I’m not a fan of Amber’s bratty characteristics, I love the outfits Brittany Snow wears in the film. It’s the classic circle skirt! (By the way, a sequel is set to be released July 2010.)
In addition to circle skirts, there were poodle skirts. When I was younger I wore one for Halloween one year!
Evidently, in the 1950s, Ray-Bans were all the rage. Audrey Hepburn even wore them in Breakfast at Tiffanys!
Further, in Nancy Drew, Emma Roberts plays the title character who wears penny loafers. While I know very few girls my age that wear penny loafers, I actually do own a pair!

I think that I shall leave with this beautiful and iconic picture of Jeannie Patchett taken by Norman Parkinson for the cover of Vogue, Paris, 1950.

Great post-I love this fashion too!I had to wear HIDEOUS maroon penny loafers in high school. I love loafers but these were just so gross!
